FF14 Online Reveals Monster Hunter Crossover

Final Fantasy 14 is getting some new dragons to fight this summer thanks to Monster Hunter: World, which, as Square Enix announced today during its E3 2018 presentation, will lend at least one of its monsters to the MMO in an upcoming crossover.

Final Fantasy XIV launched in 2010, but players and critics lamented its lack of content and poor gameplay.

The trailer depicts a Rathian flying into the Final Fantasy XIV world, alongside a Palico that presumably can accompany players as a pet.

This crossover event could help fans of both games migrate to the other. A trailer was shown looking at how the creature looks in Final Fantasy XIV, as well as showing a Felyne and some Monster Hunters.

According to a Square Enix press release, the crossover will feature the "King of the Skies", Rathalos, which had a big presence in the trailer. And yes, Square Enix isn't shying away from the fact you can skip the grind to level 70 with the use of optional, purchasable items. Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC. It also revealed a collaboration with Capcom's Monster Hunter World, with the action game's various mammoth beasts set to make their way into the MMO for players to take on.
