A customer views the new iPhone 7 smartphone inside an Apple Inc. store in Los Angeles, California, U.S., September 16, 2016. The claim is that Apple's decision to use USB-C will also accelerate the connector's use in competing handsets.

Apple has been the most prominent opponent of those demands. There is no mention of iPad in the DigiTimes article, but it would be expected to join the iPhone with USB-C if the rumours are true.
