Awaiting sentencing, Fyre Festival promoter arrested again

Fyre Fest Boss Charged Over New Scam While Awaiting Sentence For Old Scam

The festival's founder, Billy McFarland, didn't get away with whatever scam he tried to pulll scot-free.

McFarland, 26, sold fake tickets to exclusive events, including the Met Gala and Coachella, for several months while he was awaiting sentencing for charges related to the Fyre Festival, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of NY.

The Fyre Festival garnered national headlines in April 2017 after being advertised as an idyllic getaway to the Bahamas, complete with gourmet food, luxury accommodations, performances by Ja Rule and Blink-182.

He was charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering and faces a maximum of 40 years in prison if convicted. McFarland's lawyers were not immediately available to comment on the new charges. He also said one of McFarland's colleagues, cooperating with prosecutors, was framing him.

Post mortem due in Co Cork murder investigation
A vehicle , believed to be a BMW 3 Series, was later found burned out six kilometres away at Iniskenny, Ballinora, Waterfall. Mr Wilk , who was originally from Poland, lived in Ballincollig for several years and ran a garden maintenance business.

The "tickets", which were supposedly intended for events including this year's Grammys, the Super Bowl, Coachella, the Met Gala and Burning Man, were sold to 15 people and amounted to almost $100,000. He is allegedly behind a business called NYC VIP Access which sold tickets to huge events like the Grammys, the Super Bowl, Coachella, the Met Gala, Burning Man, and more.

McFarland pleaded guilty in connection to the Fyre Festival fiasco on March 6 to one count of wire fraud after defrauding over 80 investors out of $24 million, and another count of wire fraud for lying to the company selling tickets, which took over $2 million in losses, according to the Southern District of NY. In the affidavit, Special Agent Racz writes that McFarland corresponded with potential customer-victims through Employee-1's email account - which, among other evidence, investigators say they determined was being logged into from an IP address associated with McFarland's parents' house in New Jersey.

"Mr. McFarland is looking at a significant term of imprisonment". This time, McFarland is charged with selling fake tickets to mega-festivals and events.
