Gal Gadot joins art heist comedy starring The Rock

Gal Gadot Dwayne Johnson

As first reported by The Hashtag Show and now confirmed by Deadline, Gal Gadot will co-star opposite Johnson in Red Notice.

Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot have already shared screen space in the "Fast and Furious" films and it is still not known what character she is playing. Behind the scenes, the film will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (who also wrote the script), and it will be produced by Beau Flynn, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.

The action thriller-which follows an Interpol agent as he tracks the world's most wanted art thief-sparked a bidding war among the major studios.

The film's log line is being kept under wraps, but it is described as a globe-trotting, action-comedy, heist thriller designed as a three-hander between Johnson, Gadot and another male star who'll soon be set.

In the global action-thriller, Johnson plays an Interpol agent tasked with capturing the most wanted art thief in the world. His background is in comedies like Dodgeball and We're the Millers, but with Skyscraper and now Red Notice-both of which he's writing himself-Thurber is carving out his own, original blockbusters.

Red Notice opens in theaters on June 12, 2020. Legendary is in discussions to partner in Red Notice.

Gadot is now shooting Wonder Woman 2 with director Patty Jenkins and will potentially star in Sue Kroll's fact-based tale My Dearest Fidel from Warner Bros.
