Three killed in Saudi Arabia following Houthi missile attack

The Saudi-led coalition faces widespread worldwide criticism for its air attacks in Yemen that have killed many civilians.

Three civilians were killed in Jazan province from a projectile fired by the terrorist Iranian-Houthi militias on Saturday, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the Official Spokesman of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Col.

Al-Malki accused Yemen's Shia rebels of firing a projectile that was "launched deliberately to target civilians".

"The Arab coalition will strike with an iron fist all those who threaten the safety and security of Saudi nationals, residents and capabilities".

The Houthis regularly fire into Saudi Arabia and have targeted its capital, Riyadh, with ballistic missiles.

On Tuesday, the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces (RSADF) reportedly intercepted a ballistic missile launched by Iran-backed Houthi movement from Yemen targeting the Saudi territory.

Clashes between troops backed by a Saudi-led coalition and the Iran-aligned Houthis intensified near Yemen's Hodeidah over the weekend as the United Nations tries to negotiate a ceasefire to avert a possible assault on the main port city, military sources said.

It came as coalition-backed Yemeni forces advance on the rebel-held Red Sea port of Hodeida, the main conduit for humanitarian supplies into a country teetering on the brink of starvation.

In late May, air defences intercepted Houthi missiles over the southern cities of Najran and Jizan and there were no casualties.

The Saudi-led coalition, which includes the UAE, intervened in the Yemen war in 2015 at the request of Mr Hadi's government.
