Jastine Valdez murder suspect left note saying 'sorry' in his auto

Jastine Valdez 24 was a part-time Accounting and Finance student at the Institute of Technology Tallaght

A search is under way for Jastine Valdez's handbag with gardaí and members of the Defence Forces searching in Wicklow and Dublin.

She was last seen being bundled into a auto on Saturday evening and it's believed she was murdered soon after that.

Gardaí are examining a blood-stained note found in Hennessy's vehicle after his death.

Her suspected kidnapper Mark Hennessy, 40, a married father-of-two from nearby Bray, was shot dead by Gardaí in Dublin on Sunday night.

The Garda appeal came as an online initiative to raise funds for Ms Valdez's family exceeded 50,000 euro in less than 17 hours. I didn't even know her. He was then shot and killed by Gardai after he threatened them with a knife.

In the course of the ongoing investigation, reports said the suspect's DNA samples will now be crosschecked with the DNA database for any links to unsolved recent sex crimes that happened in the last 20 years.

Jastine's parents Danillo and Teresita are said to be "inconsolable" at the loss of their only child and are being supported by the Garda Victim Liaison Office.

The couple moved to Ireland in 1985 from the province of Nueva Vizcaya, before Jastine - who had been living with her grandparents - moved over to live with them three years ago.

"The Valdez family have lost their only child".

It said the Philippine Embassy in London and the Honorary Consulate in Dublin have been monitoring the case and have been in touch with authorities since Valdez's family reported her missing on Saturday evening.

Lagdameo said Honorary Consul Mark Congdon will be discussing with the family on the possible assistance the department may be able to extend.
