Mike Budenholzer, who spent 17 seasons as an assistant for the San Antonio Spurs under Gregg Popovich, has been named the Milwaukee Bucks head coach, according to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

He and Atlanta parted ways after a tumultuous season in late April, but other teams covet his leadership.

Jason Kidd was the head coach of the Bucks heading into the 2017-18 National Basketball Association season.

Budenholzer won his coach of the year award after a 60-victory regular season and a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2016.

Having built teams separately centered around success on both ends of the court, Budenholzer is an intriguing fit for the Bucks.

Budenholzer also comes to the Bucks with some hardware to prove his track record. He is going to be a major upgrade from what Milwaukee has become used to on the sidelines and will help the Bucks get back into serious contention.
