Ford has announced plans to resume F-150 production in MI on Friday and Kentucky on Monday, minimizing downtime after a fire severely damaged a supplier's magnesium parts factory.

Production of Ford's Super Duty at its Louisville, Kentucky, truck plant and the F-150 at its Kansas City, Missouri, assembly plant are targeted to resume by Monday.

Production of the Expedition and Navigator SUVs continues without interruption at Louisville, Ford said. The vehicle generated $41 billion in revenue a year ago, about 28 percent of total sales and the lion's share of Ford's profits.

The Dearborn, Mich. -based auto maker said Wednesday it is restarting production of the F-150 pickup at a Dearborn plant on Friday, after it went offline last week.

While the situation isn't ideal, Ford is making the best of it and notes parts built in the United Kingdom will be flown to the United States daily until production in Eaton Rapids returns to pre-fire levels. The Eaton Rapids plant is producing truck parts again.

Ford said it expected an adverse impact of 12 to 14 cents per share on second-quarter earnings, but affirmed its full-year guidance, saying it believed it could make up most of the lost production.
