Here's A Tesla Towing A Qantas Dreamliner

Cars towing airplanes isn't really out-of-the-box thinking.

Tesla just entered the Guinness World Record book.

Although it's rated to tow 2500kg, the Model X managed to pull the 130,000 kg airplane almost 300 meters. The Germans retaliated with the Porsche Cayenne S Diesel past year, which pulled a 285-tonne Airbus A380 for an impressive 73 metres.

Electric vehicles have the capacity for big torque and that was put to good use here.

A Telsa might be now flying through space on its way to Mars, but in Melbourne today, Elon Musk's electric vehicle produced another first when it set a Guinness World Record attempt, as the heaviest tow by an electric production passenger vehicle, towing a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner along the tarmac. The Model X P100D managed to pull the giant aircraft nearly 300m.

It's also not the first time that Qantas used an electric vehicle to tow one of their planes.

Built with just 5000-lb rated capacity, Tesla's Model X is the only electric passenger vehicle with the highest towing capacity now offered in the market. The achievement was announced after the ModelX P100D pulled a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the tarmac for 300 metres.
