ConsenSys & Amazon Web Services Partner To Build Kaleido Business Blockchain Project

Kaleido

While Amazon has not yet made any movements that hint toward an Amazon-only blockchain solution, the massive presence of the company within sectors that are now being heavily disrupted by the blockchain - such as supply chain - make it highly likely that the tech juggernaut will adopt blockchain technology wholesale in the future. The retail and computing giant is teaming up with a new company called Kaleido, which will produce easy-to-implement blockchain-based software for the company based around Ethereum's smart contract system - meaning companies, as Kaleido founder Steve Cerveny told CNBC, "can focus on their scenario and they don't have to become PhDs is cryptography". The technology is touted as faster and more secure by advocates.

Blockchain projects by ConsenSys seem to be gaining traction in India as well.

After Facebook announced its intention last week to go into blockchain technology, Amazon has also opened up that it is partnering with Kaleido, a start-up built on Ethereum blockchain.

Holger Mueller, principal analyst and vice president at Constellation Research Inc., said blockchain technology appeals to many enterprises because it has key capabilities that can enable a number of next-generation application use cases.

"It will be the first blockchain software as a service (SaaS) and will be able to "[link] between private networks and the public Ethereum mainnet".

Despite AWS's previous involvement within the blockchain technology space, their partnership with Consensys is a big deal.

Statoil to become Equinor from May 16
Statoil shares are trading higher Tuesday as the Norwegian energy company prepares to change its 50-year old name. This entails that May 15, 2018 is expected to be the last day of trading on Oslo Børs under the ticker "STL".

The Kaleido platform runs on AWS and is available through AWS Marketplace. These networks offer all of the benefits of the underlying blockchain technology, while still maintaining the necessary levels of robustness, security, and performance, it explained.

Hyperledger and R3 are examples of private blockchain solutions. The anchoring will happen automatically at regular checkpoints, so that enterprises get better proof of confirmation over all the transactions. AWS said that these connections will help enterprises to reduce the costs of real-world projects.

"We look forward to continuing our work with Verizon as their preferred public cloud provider, helping them to continually transform their business and innovate on behalf of their customers", Mike Clayville, AWS's VP of Worldwide Commercial Sales, said in a statement.

The Kaleido blockchain cloud was piloted in a bank in the Philippines.

Why do we need a platform like Kaliedo?
