The dystopian setting promises insane action, big guns and a number of vehicles that can be used to survive against hordes of ghoulish enemies. Where the original Rage was an expansive, open world, post-apocalyptic desert shooter and racer, Rage 2 is an expansive, open world, post-apocalyptic desert shooter and racer with a real dose of insane. Tim Willits of id Software said, "We have this novel approach: You buy the game and then you play it". According to the basic premise, it's the year 2185 and you're Walker, the last Ranger of the wasteland, seemingly on a quest to topple the oppressive rule of the so-called Authority. The game brings together two studio powerhouses - Avalanche Studios, masters of open world mayhem and id Software, gods of the first-person shooter - to deliver a carnival of carnage.

Cut to another seven days later, and it turns out that it was totally true, as we have our first look at the Rage 2 gameplay, and to be honest, it looks pretty great.
