Read James Comey's Notes On His Meetings With Donald Trump

Rod Rosenstein answers a question after announcing that the office of special counsel Robert Mueller announced a grand jury has charged 13 Russian nationals and several Russian entities Feb. 16 2018 in Washington

Among the people they're targeting are former FBI Director James Comey, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

The former-FBI director appeared on the programme to discuss his time serving with Donald Trump - before the President fired him less than four months into his tenure.

Republicans sought the immediate release of the memos and said there was "no legal basis for withholding these materials from Congress". On Monday, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein requested more time to fulfill the request, citing department rules regarding the handling of memos with classified information or pertaining to ongoing criminal investigations.

These aspects of Comey's conversations with Trump before he was sacked by the president in May 2017 are detailed in memos the Justice Department turned over Thursday to House committees.

Donald Trump said Vladimir Putin boasted to him about the quality of hookers in his country. this according to one of James Comey's memos. Comey writes in his memos that Trump stressed to him that Flynn hadn't done anything wrong in his conversations with Russia's ambassador about sanctions.

Comey's response is redacted on the unclassified memos.

The memos, conducting 15 pages at complete, detail a streak of calls and encounters between both men at the weeks leading up to Mr. Comey's shooting and offer an intimate look at connections among the highest levels of government.

According to one memo, Trump complained about Flynn at a private January 2017 dinner with Comey, saying "the guy has serious judgment issues".

Comey writes that he told Trump 'Andy was a true professional and had no problem at all'. All of his memos were subsequently provided to Mueller. Mueller is investigating potential ties between Russian Federation and Trump's 2016 campaign as well as possible obstruction of justice by the president.

Trump is also focused on loyalty, as Comey has said in congressional testimony and his book.

In a Senate hearing last June, Comey told Congress, "I knew there might come a day when I would need a record of what had happened, not just to defend myself, but to defend the Federal Bureau of Investigation and our integrity as an institution and the independence of our investigative function".

The Justice Department agreed to give Congress the Comey memos after House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte of Virginia threatened to issue a subpoena for them.

On Thursday night, the editor of The New Yorker, David Remnick, interviewed the former F.B.I. director James Comey during a live taping of "The New Yorker Radio Hour".

During the conversation, Trump fretted over the notion that his wife, Melania, would be upset by the notion that he could have spent time with prostitutes in Moscow, and reiterated his claim that "he hadn't stayed overnight in Russian Federation", to which Priebus tried to interject by asking "why it was even in there", Comey wrote.

Two sources familiar with the matter told CBS News' chief White House correspondent Major Garrett the president approved the transmission after receiving recommendations from top Justice Department officials.
