Vincent Kompany returns for Manchester City

Manchester City's Belgian defender Vincent Kompany reacts after a challenge from Tottenham Hotspur's Welsh defender Ben Davies during the English Premier League football match between

City were confirmed as champions on Sunday, with five games still to go, when their closest challengers Manchester United were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at home by bottom side West Brom.

His players were spread across Europe as Jay Rodriguez scored the goal that sealed City's title, but Kompany, the captain, watched with his City-supporting wife, Carla, their two children and other family members at his Cheshire home. "I've been lucky to win three but I've missed some as well", the experienced defender told Sky Sports.

Kompany was joined by Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Fabian Delph and Kyle Walker joined the skipper at a packed Hale Wine Bar, where the players were seen belting out Oasis' Wonderwall and being serenaded by supporters expressing their delight and gratitude.

"It shows how football is lived in Manchester as we have Reds in the family and Blues but today was a day for the Blues".

"We were exhausted, not just physically but mentally as well and a lot of big characters stood up today and that gives me a lot of pride again to be able to share these moments with this team". The first one was special but this one is perhaps the one I'm most proud of. "It's gone before you know it". It's a hard achievement and I'm proud of the team and everyone involved.

Vincent Kompany returns for Manchester City

Vincent Kompany has been recalled to the Manchester City starting lineup for Saturday's Premier League encounter against Tottenham Hotspur. I suppose my team-mates will roll their eyes a little bit but I kind of want to see what the reaction is now.

'I'd like to stay humble, it's not a dynasty, it's just one title. "We're still super happy but theres is so much to do before we unlock our full potential".

Kompany indicated he spoke with the same voice as Guardiola, who can now lay claim to 24 trophies in a nine-year coaching career which includes triumphant spells at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. There was a period of adaptation for him coming into the league and for us taking in his methods.

"At my age I can still learn and I enjoy every minute of it, but I think we share one thing of having the hunger and desire to never be satisfied".
