TORONTO (AP) - For the first time in nearly 17 years, the Toronto Raptors are off to a winning start in a playoff series. But even with home court advantage over the No. 8 Washington Wizards, the Raptors on Saturday evening will look to make history of sorts.

The Raptors had held the unfortunate league record for consecutive Game 1 losses - 10 - and had dropped all but one of the 13 previous playoff openers, beating Philadelphia in the second round in 2001.

The top-seeded Toronto Raptors will face off against the Washington Wizards in the first-round of the NBA Playoffs.

These two clubs have split their four meetings during the regular season, with each team winning once on the opponent's floor. Kyle Lowry, who was battling a virus and coughed throughout the post-game press conference, finished with 11 points and nine assists for the Raptors.

"We haven't played with John against them", said Wizards guard Tomas Satoransky.

Kawhi Leonard Officially Out for Game 1
As it stands Lakers and Warriors have so far played nine matches each with the former having seven wins while Warriors have six. The Spurs noted in a tweet: " Kawhi Leonard [return from injury management] is out for tomorrow's Spurs-Warriors game". ".

SANA also reprinted the response to the attacks from the Chinese Communist regime, which condemned the attacks in milder terms. But the very narrow and limited nature of the strikes served to weaken deterrence of future Syrian chemical weapons use.

US 'Acted Appropriately' with Syria Strikes
The US attack on a military base in Homs, western Syria injured 3 civilians, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) earlier reported. The organization has previously determined that chemical weapons have been used in Syria.

"We've been here before", Beal said. "There's no excuse for us not to go out there and get the job done". VanVleet was injured in Wednesday's regular season finale. "It's always fun and it gets very interesting this time of the year".

"We are looking forward to the matchup with Toronto", Smith said. We don't match up well with them.

The Wizards swept the Raptors in four straight games in the playoffs in 2015. "To have the opportunity against a great team in the Wizards, it should be fun".

The Raptors came into the day 0-9 in the opening game of the National Basketball Association playoffs. "Just not going to go today".

"It was definitely a challenge", Brooks said of the early foul trouble.
