Reid: Anthem protests are why I'm unsigned

Eric Reid

The Baltimore Ravens coach recently admitted that a US military official advised him not to sign Kaepernick over the protest.

"I would say I understand that's a possibility", Reid said.

He took to Twitter Thursday to air his grievances with National Football League owners, not general managers, who he says are blocking his chances. While anti-collusion rules which prevent owners from conspiring to keep a player out of the league exist.

"The notion that I can be a great signing for your team for cheap, not because of my skill set but because I've protested systemic oppression, is ludicrous".

He and others believe it had more to do with his decision to kneel during the national anthem as part of a protest against racial injustice instead of his play on the field. At 26 he is still in his prime and, after being shuffled about in the 49ers' defense, his head coach Kyle Shanahan said Reid had been "playing his best football" at the end of last season. "People who know me, know my character", he added. "And I'm completely fine with it".

Putin votes for Russian President
Around 97,000 polling stations have been opened across this vast country, according to the Central Election Commission. Election monitoring group Golos reported dozens of apparent violations Sunday, from the Russian Far East to Moscow.

"Narrative is powerful so I have to set it straight", Reid posted Thursday. The things that I've done, I stand by, and I've done that for my own personal beliefs. "I hope y'all are paying attention".

The 2013 first round pick has started 69 games over his five-year career with the 49ers, accumulating 264 tackles, 10 interceptions, and 36 pass defences.

On Thursday, Kaepernick was spotted training in Houston, Texas, and sparked rumors he could be joining the Texans for the upcoming season.

Kaepernick's buddy, San Francisco 49ers defensive back Eric Reid who joined the cop-hating Castro lover during his season of protest and continued to kneel once he was out of the league is not taking it well that he hasn't been signed only two days into free agency.
