India's focus on curative, promotive and preventive ways of healthcare including Ayurveda and Yoga have been recognised around the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday and announced that the country would work towards ending Tuberculosis by 2025, five years ahead of the Sustainable Development Goals health targets.

He also congratulated all frontline TB physicians and workers as well as those affected by the disease for their determination to defeat TB through proper medication.

The Prime Minister stressed on analysing the situation and changing the approach, saying that efforts to curb tuberculosis has not yield successful results yet and said state governments have a major role to play in elimination of TB from the country.

India will play a historic role in eradicating the disease which was affecting the poor mostly, he said. On the launch of major health mission by the Central government, PMO India tweeted, " A TB patient after successfully fighting against the disease can inspire many others.
