BJP to boycott all party-meet called by Kejriwal to discuss sealing

Hitting out at the BJP at a press conference at the CM's residence, Sisodia said it was unfortunate that the party's representatives did not attend the meeting called to find a solution to the sealing issue.

In another setback to Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), V K Jain, the advisor to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal resigned on Tuesday citing personal reasons, days after he was questioned by the police in connection with the alleged assault on Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.

"The then Centre and state government under the Congress working on its past strategy to suppress the issue, brought out an under developed Master Plan-2021 which though stopped the sealing at that time but soon complicated the situation to the extent that in 2017 Supreme Court actively re-intervened", he said in the statement. "I wish BJP had also participated in the interest of Delhi's traders" (sic).

He also urged the political parties to come together and pass the bill to end the sealing drive that has been creating a panic among traders in Delhi.

The all-party meeting ended up being an AAP and Congress meeting, with the BJP boycotting.

Earlier in the day, Mr Maken expressed hope that the Government would find a solution to the issue which has affected traders across the city.

Sisodia said another such meeting would be called and BJP would be invited again.

GOP leaders signal they will try to narrow Trump's tariffs
According to Section 232 of a US trade law, the president can impose tariffs on imported materials for national security purposes. But there are few signs on Capitol Hill of the political will to pass a bill to rein in Trump and avert a trade war.

"There are some issues on which we should not do party politics", he said.

He alleged that through the sealing drive, the BJP wanted to pave the way for foreign direct investments in retail in the national capital.

"The government should appoint prominent lawyers as the chief minister has appointed for his personal litigation", BJP said in a letter to Kejriwal.

Maken said the Delhi government has not yet met the monitoring committee since the sealing drive began and added that Kejriwal has also agreed for a meeting with the committee.

Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash was allegedly assaulted by AAP MLAs during a meeting at the chief minister's residence in the evening of February 19. "Because it is not being done now, there is chaos", Maken said.

In solidarity with Prakash, IAS officers as well as Civil Services officers of Delhi and Andaman and Nicobar Islands have not been attending meetings with AAP ministers, and only maintaining written communication with them. "We have told them that for each area, the MPD and the existing law has a solution and therefore the ongoing sealing is illegal", Maken said.

The Monitoring Committee was set up by the Supreme Court in 2006.
