Teen dead after rolling on to iPhone cable in her sleep

A teenage girl has died in Vietnam after being electrocuted in her sleep by her faulty iPhone charging cable. Cable found on the bed of the teenager, according to one version, she put the mobile on charge at night and in the dream, touched the wires.

Parents found the body of 14-year-old daughter only in the morning, then immediately went to the hospital, but the doctors found nothing to help.

Whether or not it is due to the frayed iPhone cable is unclear, but there's a good chance it could be as the burnt white cable with frayed edges (see photo to the right) was found on her bed. They said tragedy likely struck as she slept and rolled onto the iPhone's charging cable, which electrocuted her with the current.

Police are now investigating the cable and trying to figure out whether it was the original Apple charging cable or a cheaper replacement.

Police speculate that the victim's cable could possibly be a third-party product since Apple's cables are usually 20 inches long.

See-through tape had also been wrapped around the front of the cable, suggesting that the victim may have been aware of the wear and tear but made a decision to continue using it regardless.
