Nintendo wants the Switch to get "mature content"

Injustice 2 Blue Beetle Fights Wonder Woman

According to a report by the The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo appears to be interested in increasing the number of mature titles on its newest console to remove the stigma that its hardware is just for family-friendly content.

Nintendo's reputation for being the kid-friendly console option hasn't exactly come from nowhere - you only have to look at Nintendo's version of a first-party shooter, Splatoon, to know that the company hasn't had much interest in violence, blood and gore.

These have always been the go-to platforms for mature-rated games while Nintendo kept to more wholesome fare. Japanese developer Inti Creates is working on "Gal*Gun 2", a first-person rail shooter where the player is a high school student empowered by a Cupid who becomes irresistible to his schoolmates and must shoot them with "pheromone beams" to make them faint with ecstasy before they could mindlessly ravish him. Some popular mature Switch games are Skyrim, Doom, and Wolfenstein II. Ragot was asked about the current status of the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

Perhaps, with the past games experiencing positive reviews upon being ported to the Nintendo Switch, more publishers are looking to extend their market. Four new versions of L.A Noire are coming, and one of them is a Switch version. To port games originally meant for the latter two consoles to Nintendo's system, a few compromises would have to be made. Interactive may want to increase those sales even further, with a possible Nintendo Switch port. Rockstar has only released 2 GTA games on a Nintendo console China Wars (DS) and Grand Theft Auto Advance (Gameboy.) Nintendo consoles haven't had good 3rd party support for a long time. According to DigiTimes Nintendo has raised Switch production to 2 million units per month. There have been initiatives to include more PG-rated adventures in more recent consoles, but only now, after releasing the Switch, has Nintendo's main Japan HQ espoused more developers to come up with titles geared for mature gamers.
