Adrien Silva training with Leicester City ahead of £22 million move

Adrien Silva

Leicester new boy Adrien Silva has joined in training with the squad for the first time after his summer transfer missed the deadline by 14 seconds.

The Foxes signed Silva from Sporting Lisbon on deadline day, but the paperwork was received by Federation Internationale de Football Association 14 seconds after the deadline and so the transfer was rejected by the governing body.

The 34-year-old Frenchman is without a club since being released by Manchester City in June.

Still, at least Silva has now been integrated into the group, and it would appear that, given the narrow margin by which he missed the aforementioned deadline, Leicester have bestowed him with a rather pithy new squad number. He wore the No. 23 at his previous club and for Portugal but that number is not free at Leicester at the moment so why not maintain a cheeky nod to the transfer gaffe and keep the No. 14 when he's officially allowed to play for Craig Shakespeare's side?

According to BBC Sport, Portuguese playmaker Adrien Silva has started training with Leicester City after Federation Internationale de Football Association officials rejected his deadline day move to the King Power Stadium.

"We have looked at him before but we haven't spoken about him recently".

The club are looking into an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport surrounding FIFA's rejection of Silva's registration, but are yet to make a decision regarding the appeal. The camaraderie and the banter is brilliant in and around the changing rooms and I wanted to integrate him as quickly as possible and I can do that now.
