British Airways Flight Held at Paris Airport Fearing 'Security Threat'

British Airways flight held on runway at airport in Paris over security threat

Passengers were evacuated from Flight BA303 at Charles de Gaulle airport on Sunday before it was due to fly to London for what officials said was a security reason.

As reported by the Metro, the British Airways plane was immediately surrounded by Paris police and fire vehicles due to the #security threat and according to a witness, James Anderson, all passengers were then searched by armed police.

British traveller James Anderson, 20, tweeted a snap of the plane and security services.

Police and fire crews attended the scene.

"The incident is being dealt with", the official added, without going into further detail.

However, it is still unclear what the "direct threat" was that led to the whole episode. Now hold luggage being searched by dogs.

Anderson said the pilot had initially told passengers there were technical issues.

"That's when we noticed police and fire vehicles quickly surrounded the plane and dozens of armed officers and firefighters got out".

"We were waiting on the plane for around an hour", he said.

It was followed by the pilot announcing they had to evacuate on account of a "direct threat" involving the flight specifically.

British Airways while regretted for the inconvenience faced by the passengers, they emphasised that security of the passengers is their top priority. "Additional security checks are being carried out as a precaution", British Airways said in a statement when asked about the flight.

An improvised explosive device partially detonated on a train at the Parsons Green station on the District line, injuring 29 people. 'We would never operate a flight unless it is safe to do so'.
