Auto ploughs into group of cyclists in Brisbane

The scene at West End

The vehicle crashed into the group of cyclists in West End early on Friday morning, leaving five seriously injured.

Around 6.30am, a vehicle was turning into a property on Dornoch Street when it collided with five cyclists coming past in the opposite direction.

It's understood all cyclists have suffered significant injuries, including one with critical head injuries.

Police are now on the scene of the incident trying to ascertain what has happened.

Three cyclists, a 45-year-old Albany Creek man, a 54-year-old Highgate Hill woman and a 49-year-old Norman Park man, were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

Despite that, he said paramedics were able to take the critically injured woman to hospital within minutes.
