Scaramucci: Trump Should Have Been 'Much Harsher' On White Supremacy

Violence broke out Saturday at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. One person died when a vehicle plowed into a crowd.

"I think he needed to be much harsher as it related to the white supremacists and the nature of that", Scaramucci said on ABC News' "This Week".

In what is being considered a dodge of the question of whether he can work with White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster refused to single out Bannon - or even mention by name - in an appearance Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press".

"Can you and Steve Bannon still work together in this White House or not?"

Breitbart has close ties with the alt-right movement, an ideology that can be associated with white nationalism. The New York Post reports that Shine has turned down the communications director job left vacant by Anthony Scaramucci, who lasted just 10 days before famously imploding in full public view. The New Yorker'sRyan Lizza published an expletive-filled interview with Scaramucci, in which he bashed then-chief of staff Reince Priebus and used a sexually-vulgar term to describe Bannon.

Stocks drop, led by technology companies
Retailers slid after department stores Macy's and Kohl's both said same-store sales continued to decline in the latest quarter. Cappelleri said he would need to see more pullbacks of at least 1% before becoming anxious about the stock market.

"If you are on the McMaster side, you do not like this memo because you read it and you say, 'Hey is he talking about me?"

But he acknowledged that he "made an unforced error", and said that he was a target from the start.

Scaramucci said Trump "has to move away from that sort of Bannon-bart nonsense" and "move more to the mainstream" way of thinking that is embraced by most moderate Republicans and independents.

He also said that how he sounds on the audio of the conversation is much different than how he comes across in print - calmer in conversation than the inflammatory words would suggest.

He said that if he was still working in the White House, he would not have recommended Trump make the statement he did.
