Charlottesville auto crash suspect ID'd as 20-year-old OH man

Demonstrators in the Bay Area are planning to gather in Oakland on Saturday in response to a violent and deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

James Fields, 20, was arrested after he ploughed his auto into a group gathered to protest a white supremacist rally in the university town, killing one and injuring at least nineteen others.

The driver has been identified as James Alex Fields, 20, of OH, according to CNN.

James Alex Fields of Ohio's arrest was confirmed by the local jail superintendent and he is now being held without bail for the murder of a 32-year old woman.

McAuliffe said at a news conference earlier in the day that three people had died, apparently a reference to the woman who died in the auto crash and the two victims of the helicopter crash.

The FBI and federal prosecutors said they've began a civil rights investigation after a vehicle crashed into a crowd Saturday in Charlottesville.

"What the world saw today is not the place Charlottesville is", Thomas said of the violence that preceded the scheduled rally.
