Saudi Arabia to open beach resort where women can wear bikinis

Prince Mohammed bin Salman has revealed plans for a luxury beach resort where special laws allow women to wear bikinis instead of covering up their skin.

Saudi Arabia's new Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has announced a massive tourism development project that will be governed by global standards.

The 13,000 square mile project will see 50 untouched islands transformed into "an exquisite luxury tourism destination", governed by laws reflecting worldwide standards, according to reports released by the Saudi Press Agency.

"It will set new standards for sustainable development and bring about the next generation of luxury travel to put Saudi Arabia on the worldwide tourism map", the fund said. The project, part of the Kingdom's wider Vision 2030 initiative to move its economy away from its reliance on oil, is reportedly going to cost around US$4 billion.

Facebook Continues Fake News Fight With Fact Checking
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg would eventually acknowledge the platform's responsibility to limit the spread of hoax news.

According to the public investment fund details, the beach will be completed in 2022 while it aims to gather around 1 million visitors in the form of tourists and local residents every year by 2035.

"It will set new standards for sustainable development and bring about the next generation of luxury travel to put Saudi Arabia on the worldwide tourism map", the fund said. The beach resort eyes at developing suitable environment for worldwide standards which may contradict with the country s hardline take on outdoor lives for women. Alcohol is also prohibited under Saudi law and it is yet not clear if it will be allowed on the resort. Knowing that foreign visitors are unlikely to show up at beaches where women are forced to cover up- the government said the resort will be "governed by laws on par with global standards".

On contrary to this, Saudi Arabia's laws on women are extremely repressive, where women are banned from driving also.
