Royals get Melky Cabrera from White Sox for two prospects

The White Sox have traded outfielder Melky Cabrera to AL Central rival Kansas City in exchanges for two pitchers.

The White Sox will also send cash considerations to Kansas City as part of the deal.

Cabrera is batting.295 with 13 home runs and 56 RBI in 98 games for the White Sox in 2017. Cabrera is set to be a free agent this November.

In 2011, Cabrera was with the Royals and he hit.305 and a career-high 44 doubles during that season. He had been with the White Sox since signing a three-year deal before the 2015 season.
